Mission Statement

The Journal of Life Science (JLS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality original research, review articles, and short communications across the breadth of the life sciences. Founded in 2013, JLS serves as a platform for researchers, clinicians, and educators to share discoveries that advance our understanding of living systems.

We are committed to scientific rigor, transparency, and accessibility. By maintaining an open access model, we ensure that research findings are freely available to scientists, students, and the public worldwide — removing barriers to knowledge and accelerating the pace of discovery.

Our editorial philosophy emphasizes methodological soundness, reproducibility, and the potential for research to contribute meaningfully to its field. We welcome submissions from researchers at all career stages and from all regions of the world.

Brief History

The Journal of Life Science was founded in 2013 by a consortium of researchers from leading universities who recognized the need for a high-quality, open access journal that could bridge the gap between specialized subdisciplines within the life sciences.

Since its inception, JLS has published over 1,200 articles from researchers in more than 60 countries. The journal received its first Impact Factor in 2017 and has been continuously indexed in Scopus and Web of Science since 2016. In 2022, JLS was accepted into PubMed/MEDLINE, reflecting the growing recognition of the journal's commitment to publishing impactful, methodologically rigorous research.

Today, JLS is supported by an international editorial board of over 40 active researchers and processes more than 500 submissions annually, with an average time to first decision of 28 days.
